Which 2018 Hyundai Models Get the Best Gas Mileage?

When it comes to taking you more than the extra mile, Hyundai electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and gas sedans are ahead of the pack. And, if you've got a road-trip, weekend getaway, or even an extended vacation planned, there's a model to get you there and back again with far fewer trips to the pump than the competition. Check them out, right here!

For one, there's the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq and its trio of powertrains. 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Electric, for example, gets up to 136 MPGe, making possible 124 miles of all-electric range on a fully charged 28.0 kWh battery. Plus, with DC fast-charging capability and regenerative braking, it's easy to both get up and go and recoup some of that charge on the road.

The 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, for another instance, can get up to an EPA-estimated 57 mpg in the city, 59 mpg across highways, and 58 mpg combined in its Blue trim. That's thanks to a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and 1.56 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. Further, the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid offers excellent fuel economy of up to 52 mpg combined by EPA estimates. That's approximately 119 MPGe, and with 29 miles of all-electric range, owing to a 1.6-liter inline-four paired with an electric motor and 8.9 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery.

Next up is the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Its fuel efficiency is superb: by EPA estimation, up to 40 mpg city, 46 mpg highway, and 42 mpg combined, made possible by a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder, an electric motor, and a 270-volt Li-ion polymer battery.

Choose a 2018 Hyundai Elantra and its distance-going Eco trim, and you can look forward to up to an EPA-estimated 32 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined. That's due to a high-efficiency turbocharged 128-horsepower, 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine paired with a seven-speed EcoShift® dual-clutch transmission. And, let's not forget, 2018 Hyundai Accent can get mileage of up to 28 mpg city and 38 mpg highway by EPA estimates, thanks to a 130-horsepower, 1.6-liter I4 paired with a six-speed auto. The latter's available in the SE trim and standard in Accent SEL and Accent Limited.
